Provide Responsive and Accountable Governance
Intent Statement: The College is a responsive, credible and accountable organization that engages in ongoing evaluation of how it governs and conducts its business. The College is committed to maintaining effective and efficient operations, to implementing improvements where required and to ensuring long-term viability.
Goals:
- Implement leading governance principles and practices.
- Ensure sufficient financial and human resources are available to carry out and to sustain operations.
- Monitor and enhance the business of the College.
- Develop & implement an effective communications strategy that is responsive to information needs of registrants and the public.
Promote and Monitor Registrant Competence
Intent Statement: Registrants must have the knowledge, skills, abilities and judgement to maintain and continuously develop safe, ethical and effective occupational therapy practice. The College assists by providing practice guidelines, advisory statements, College programs such as continuing competency and re-entry, and other quality assurance initiatives.
Goals:
- Support the development and monitor the implementation of statutory programs as they are completed.
- Scan the environment for issues that may impact the practice of occupational therapy.
- Identify and respond to trends and key issues in occupational therapy practice.
Encourage & Support Registrant Participation in College Activities.
Intent Statement: The College has a responsibility to ensure registrants are knowledgeable about the obligations and expectations of a regulated professional. Communication with registrants is necessary and includes mechanisms for registrant participation and feedback.
Goals:
- Implement strategies to disseminate information about college activities and registrant responsibilities.
- Implement strategies to encourage registrants to be involved in College activities through ongoing feedback and participation.
Enhance Public Awareness
Intent Statement: Through an effective external communications strategy, the college has informs the public about their rights to safe, ethical and competent practice and the role of the college in protecting those rights.
Goals:
- Implement strategies to disseminate information to the public about the role of the College and the work done by its committees.
