The COTBC is committed to ensuring the competency of occupational therapists in British Columbia. We believe clients, employers, and occupational therapists all benefit from safe, effective, and ethical occupational therapy.
The Quality Assurance Committee and its subcommittee, the Continuing Competence Committee established one part of the Continuing Competency Program in 2006 which requires occupational therapists to confirm ongoing competence.
The Standards Committee, another subcommittee of the Quality Assurance Committee, has published three practice guidelines to assist registrants in their practice: one on the assigning components to unregulated support personnel, another on managing client information, and the latest on obtaining consent to occupational therapy services.
