Confirming Competency

B.C. occupational therapists are now required to confirm their ongoing competency. To do so, registrants must:

  1. Complete a self-assessment every two years.
  2. Implement a professional development plan annually.
  3. Submit a signed Continuing Competency Declaration Form by February 15 of each year.

To assist registrants in completing these requirements, the Continuing Competence Committee:

  • published a Guide to Completing the Self-Assessment and Professional Development Plan;
  • issued a College Communiqué to assist registrants in communicating their new requirement as a regulated professional.;
  • established a regular column in the newsletter titled: Competence Check; and
  • established this new section on the college website.
