Annual General Meeting

This year’s annual meeting will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 27 at the Inn at Westminster Quay, 900 Quayside Drive, New Westminster, B.C. The agenda includes a report from the chair, statutory committee reports and the auditor's report. As in previous years, the AGM day will be held in conjunction with the British Columbia Society of Occupational Therapists (BCSOT).

AGM Education Session: Ethics in Everyday Practice

The Quality Assurance Committee is opening this year’s AGM with a session titled Ethics in Everyday Practice. The goals of this interactive seminar are to raise awareness of the new code, identify barriers to ethical practice, and begin to identify what the college can do to support registrants’ use of the code in everyday practice.

Once again, the college has the good fortune to have Quality Improvement Consultant Barb Saunders to facilitate the session. Barb’s facilitation style is lively and engaging and will provide us with a thought-provoking and stimulating session.

Participants who attend this session will have the opportunity to determine:

  • Personal strengths for ethical practice,
  • Opportunities for self-improvement in their ethical practice,
  • Barriers to ethical practice including those created by employers, fee payers and/or professional colleagues, and
  • Learning needs to support the use of the code in everyday practice.

There is no charge to attend the annual meeting activities. However, to assist us with organizing the meeting space requirements and coordinating the events, please complete the registration form [insert link to form] and return it by October 18, 2007.

Help For Re-Entry Candidates and their Supervisors

The Registration Committee recently completed a package for re-entry candidates and their supervisors to help guide the process of re-entry. Re-entry is an important strategy to maintaining a strong occupational therapy workforce in B.C. and the committee hopes that this package will help to encourage more occupational therapists to take on this important role.
