Is Your OT Registered

When looking for an OT, it is important to check that they are registered with the College.

Why?

To work as an occupational therapist in B.C. and to use the title: Occupational Therapist individuals must register with the College. Registering with the college demonstrates that this individual respects the public’s right to safe, competent and ethical care, and recognizes the College’s role in supporting and monitoring practice.

To verify if an occupational therapist is registered call the college office at: (250) 386-6822 or at 1-866-386-6822 (toll-free in B.C.), or email: registration@cotbc.org.

Public notification of inquiry and discipline decisions to begin Fall, 2010. See page 14 of the Summer 2010 InStep Newsletter for details.

Information Available

The college will provide you with the following information:

  • the name and work address of the occupational therapist if he or she is registered to work in British Columbia.
  • the practice category of the occupational therapist.
  • any conditions or restrictions that affect the occupational therapist's ability to practice.
